MACGOWAN'S FATHER ISSUES WARNING TO SON

SHANE MACGOWAN's father has issued a stark warning to his troubled son - urging him to give up alcohol or he will die.
The Pogues frontman - who recently revealed he is suffering from liver disease hepatitis - is known for his wild partying and has long struggled with drug and alcohol addictions.
Doctors had ordered the 50-year-old star to stay sober for six weeks or risk further complications to his condition - but he reportedly gave in to alcohol after just three weeks.
And his father Maurice has spoken of his fears for his son, insisting he needs to give up drinking for good - or he will never recover.
He says, "Shane must heed the doctor's advice. He's had scares before but hepatitis is serious. He has had a good run on the drink but he must remember he is mortal."
