THE MACCABEES have been discussing the follow-up to their debut album COLOUR IT IN.

Guitarist Felix White said the south-London quintet have already recorded some of their second album while in Paris, where they enlisted the producer Markus Dravs.

Dravs produced ARCADE FIRE'S 2007 album NEON BIBLE and worked alongside Brain Eno on COLDPLAY'S VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, White said the producer had kept them on the right track during the sessions for the forthcoming album.

"He had the clarity of a vision and talked us out of a lot of stupid second record ideas you can have, like, 'Let's have a didgeridoo on that, or something'," White joked.

White added that the band resisted the second album tendency to add lots of backing singers or an orchestra, but did concede to having a brass section on there.

"Wait 'til you hear it man, it sounds unbelievable," he said.
