Lynyrd Skynyrd Rocker Arrested Again

Former LYNYRD SKYNYRD drummer ARTIMUS PYLE has been arrested for the second time in eight days after again failing to register as a sex offender. The 59-year-old - real name Thomas Delmer Pyle - was arrested by Florida police on Tuesday (27Nov07) at one of the three addresses he had given to authorities the previous week (19Nov07), when he was taken into custody for the same offence. Pyle pleaded guilty in 1993 to charges of attempted sexual battery on a victim younger than 12 and also principal to lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 16-years-old. He was sentenced to eight years' probation and ordered to register as a sex offender. But, having ignored police warnings from his 19 November (07) arrest, he was picked up by cops on Tuesday and is currently being held on $50,000 (GBP25,000) bond, according to Sergeant Chuck Mulligan. Authorities found out about Pyle when he recently renewed his driver's licence. His renewal details were automatically forwarded to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement sex offender database and they discovered he had not registered since 2001. Pyle was told to register as a sex offender in his current state of residency, but he has since failed to change his address and register in person as required by Florida law. He has previously blamed his hectic lifestyle for the non-registration, saying he "travels a lot".
