LUNA LEARNED OF MILK ROLE WHILE SHOPPING FOR CEREAL

Mexican star DIEGO LUNA learned he'd landed the role of tragic JACK LIRA in MILK while he was shopping for Cocoa Puffs.The actor's then-pregnant girlfriend sent him out for a late-night snack when director Gus Van Sant called to offer him the role.
He recalls, "She needed so badly her Cocoa Puffs, so I went to a store and was buying many boxes to take to Mexico.
"That's when I got a phone call from Gus. He said, 'Man, I want you to do the film.' It was like only an hour and a half after I met him."
