LUMLEY'S MISSION TO SAVE CHICKENS
Veteran British actress JOANNA LUMLEY has launched a campaign to improve the living conditions of battery chickens, claiming they live in "ghastly sustained cruelty".
The star of British TV comedy ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS is working side-by-side with Compassion In World Farming (CIWF), a charity which aims to improve welfare for farmed animals.
She is hoping the campaign will encourage shoppers to buy free range products. She says, "Shoppers don't have a lot of time and if eggs are labelled 'corn fed' or 'farm fresh', they think it sounds lovely.
"But these terms can gloss over the most ghastly sustained cruelty to living creatures. I know people wouldn't buy this products if they knew."
