LUMLEY MEETS NEPALESE PRESIDENT

Veteran actress JOANNA LUMLEY continues to enjoy a triumphant welcome to Nepal after she was invited to meet the country's president.
The Absolutely Fabulous star received a hero's welcome when she landed in the country on Sunday (26Jul09) - three months after she won a landmark victory over the U.K. government to give veteran Gurkha soldiers the right to remain in Britain.
Lumley, who was mobbed by hundreds of well-wishers and branded a "goddess" by locals, was treated like royalty and was swept into the presidential palace of Ram Baran Yadav, who praised her tireless efforts for Gurkhas in the U.K.
The star is in the country as part of a six-day tour.
