LUDACRIS DEFENDS POLITICAL RAP
Hip-hop star LUDACRIS has defended attacks against the politically-charged rap he penned in support of BARACK OBAMA, after the U.S. presidential candidate slammed him for taking hits at senators JOHN MCCAIN, HILLARY CLINTON and President GEORGE W. BUSH.
The rapper's tongue-lashings of the trio in a mix-tape recording entitled Politics (Obama Is Here), prompted Democratic presidential candidate Obama to denounce the song earlier this year (08), calling it "outrageously offensive".
On the track, Ludacris raps: "Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified/MCCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralysed/Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped... Get out and vote or the end will be near/The world is ready for change because Obama is here."
But Ludacris has stepped up in defence of the track, insisting it was his way of motivating American youths to take part in the November (08) election.
He tells the New York Daily News, "At the end of the day, I was just trying to get people to care enough to register to vote."
