LOVE GURU FACES ANOTHER BAN IN INDIA

Hindu leaders are upset by plans to release MIKE MYERS' flop comedy THE LOVE GURU in India. The film, about a comedic spiritual leader played by Myers, was boycotted by religious leaders, who found the movie and the actor's portrayal offensive.
Now, eight months after its release in the U.S., The Love Guru has been submitted for certification in India and a decision on the movie's release is pending, according to officials at the country's Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
And Hindu statesman Rajan Zed is leading a campaign to ban the film in India, claiming it violates various CBFC guidelines.
He insists India's cinema laws stipulate a film has to be certified keeping "morality" in mind, besides other things.
He tells WENN, "The act states the medium of film must remain responsible and sensitive to the values and standards of society - and provide clean and healthy entertainment. This film represents the blatant ridiculing of Hinduism."
Zed led a crusade to boycott the film in America, and maintains his efforts were largely responsible for the film's failure at the box office. The Love Guru has been nominated for a slew of Golden Raspberry Awards - including Worst Film.
