LOREN OPENS ROME FILM FESTIVAL WITH STANDING OVATION
SOPHIA LOREN received a standing ovation as she was honoured with the Acting Award at the opening of the Rome Film Festival in Italy on Thursday night (18Oct07). The beloved actress revealed she was overcome with the love of festival officials, stating, "I hope I deserve this." She then left the stage at the Sistina Theatre, where blind opera star Andrea Bocelli took over, performing arias from films like A Clockwork Orange and Analyze This. The festival continues over the weekend and stars like Sean Penn, Cate Blanchett and Tom Cruise are expected to attend galascreenings of their films.
