LONDON FILM FESTIVAL OPENS WITH FROST/NIXON PREMIERE

The stars of Frost/Nixon have attended the film's world premiere in Leicester Square as the 52nd BFI London Film Festival got underway.

Veteran broadcaster David Frost joined the man playing him on the big screen, Michael Sheen, on the red carpet alongside director Ron Howard and writer Peter Morgan.

Frank Langella, whose performance as Richard Nixon is already attracting Oscar buzz, told journalists he thought about the disgraced president "every day".

"I do not think I will ever say goodbye to him," he said.

The film is a faithful adaptation of Morgan's play of the same name, with both Sheen and Langella reprising their roles as Frost and Nixon respectively for the big screen.

Sheen, who previously played Tony Blair in Morgan's Channel 4 drama The Deal and Oscar-winning film The Queen starring Helen Mirren, told ITN he saw his onscreen character as "a way of life".

"So I started to get worried when I found it more enjoyable being him than I did being me," Sheen admitted.

"So now I'm starting to kind of de-Frost, come out of character and let it go."

Frost himself added of the film: "I am delighted. It really is good, it really is powerful."
