LOHAN TAKES OVER HOLMES' ROLE
LINDSAY LOHAN has KATIE HOLMES to thank for her new movie role, after the BATMAN BEGINS actress was forced to pull out of THE OTHER SIDE due to her busy schedule.
Lohan has struggled to land substantial scripts since 2004 hit Mean Girls as movie bosses find it difficult to obtain insurance for the hard-partying star.
But filmmaker David Michaels has taken a chance on Lohan, recruiting her for the role Holmes had to turn down due to her commitment to Broadway play All My Sons.
And Lohan is indebted to her fellow actress for yet another reason - Michaels' original leading lady stayed up all night to help him fine tune his script and characters.
He says, "Katie would call me from Berlin at 4 am her time to go over ideas and notes. We did this over successive weeks while she was there with Tom (Cruise) when he was filming Valkyrie. The result of our collaboration has tremendously improved the arc and dynamic of the lead character."
Michaels is confident that Lohan has the acting abilities to carry off the part - despite her reputation as being a liability in Hollywood.
He adds: "Lindsay's very aware of people's perceptions of her. She's really committed to doing what she has to in order to change that."
