LLOYD WEBBER WORKING ON RUSSIAN MUSICAL?
SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER is planning to transform a Russian literary classic into a blockbuster stage musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA composer is still trying to secure the rights for the unnamed classic, which is believed to be ANNA KARENINA by LEO TOLSTOY He tells PageSix com, "(I'm working on) a production based on a Russian novel The problem is, I haven't got the rights sewed up yet " Lord Lloyd-Webber is hoping his adaptation of Tolstoy's 1877 novel will enjoy similar success to stage favourite LES MISERABLES - adapted from the 1862 novel by VICTOR HUGO - which celebrated its 21st birthday earlier this month (OCT06), making it the longest running musical ever
