LITTLE-KNOWN ROCKER GLASS TOPS NME 'COOL LIST'

CRYSTAL CASTLES singer ALICE GLASS has been honoured as the coolest person in the music industry by NME magazine.
The little-known Canadian rocker beat rap superstar Jay-Z and MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden into second and third place respectively in the British music publication's annual cool list.
Other stars who made it onto the list's top 10 include Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner, Kings of Leon rocker Caleb Followill, and Oasis star Liam Gallagher.
But it was bad news for Amy Winehouse - the troubled singer failed to make the top 10 this year after scoring eighth place in 2007. Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty also fell off the NME radar, after being placed 34th last time around.
NME's editor Conor MCNicholas says, "The likes of Amy and Pete have dropped off the list altogether this year, perhaps because they are more known for their tabloid antics than their music at the moment."
Previous artists who have topped the list include Jack White, Justin Timberlake and Beth Ditto.
