Lily Allen still wears a diamond ring given to her by ex-boyfriend Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons, because she is scared of losing it.

The 'It's Not Fair' singer - who sparked rumours of an engagement with the Chemical Brothers star last year when she was regularly seen sporting the rock on her ring finger - puts the solitaire band on everyday because she is terrified of losing it.

She said: "Ed, my ex-boyfriend, gave me a diamond ring which I still wear pretty much everyday.

"I always have this diamond ring from Ed and my little emerald ring from my mother that I got for my 17th birthday. I'm quite precious about my jewellery. Although I always lose jewellery on flights because I'm sleeping."

However, the 24-year-old pop star has not always been so protective of her expensive accessories.

She explainedto More magazine: "My grandmother gave me a sovereign ring about two weeks before my 16th birthday, and I was so broke at the time, I pawned it. I felt really, really bad and had every intention of buying it back as soon as I had the money!

"That same birthday, my brother, completely without realising, had gone to the local pawn shop to buy me a birthday present and bought me the exact same ring. It's like it was destined to be. I'll hold that one close forever. God, if I lost that I'd feel awful."
