LILY ALLEN 'SAD AND LONELY' AFTER QUITTING DRINKING

Lily Allen has admitted to feeling lonely due to her fears of succumbing to the substance abuse problems prevalent in the music industry.

The Smile star - who recently suffered a miscarriage - has claimed she has grown bored of the scene that sees many young musicians spiralling into drink and drug addiction.

And to Glamour magazine, the former party girl - who has owned up to taking ecstasy at Glastonbury aged just 14 - said she has changed her ways.

"I've been sad and quite lonely recently because if you're young, living in London and working in this industry, unless you drink and take a lot of drugs there's not much to do," she explained.

"I've been sitting on my own watching TV. It's boring to go out if everyone else is taking cocaine and shouting at me."

The 22-year-old fell pregnant mere months after beginning a relationship with Chemical Brothers DJ Ed Simons and though she miscarried, Allen says she has no plans to return to her old habits.

"When I was pregnant I stopped drinking and I didn't start again. Then when the baby was gone, I thought, 'that doesn't mean I'm going to go back to how I was'."

According to the Sun newspaper, Allen has pulled out of this summer's Isle of Wight festival - set to be headlined by the Police - as she wishes to work on her second album, the follow-up to Alright, Still.
