LIL WAYNE: 'PRAY FOR DRAKE'

LIL WAYNE is calling on fans to pray for rap protege DRAKE's swift recovery as he undergoes surgery on his injured knee, two days after collapsing in agony onstage in New Jersey.
The rising star, who was already suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), was performing with the Lollipop hitmaker during the The Young Money Presents America's Most Wanted Music Festival tour stop on Friday (31Jul09) when his attempt at a spinning dance move caused his knee to give way.
Medics rushed to his aid and Drake was taken backstage to receive treatment.
He assured shocked fans he was OK with a post on his Twitter.com page, writing: "All is well... on the bus laying down... getting surgery this week, but I'm walking."
Drake went under the knife on Sunday (02Aug09) in an effort to repair the damage to a second torn ligament, and Lil Wayne is urging his devotees to keep him in their prayers.
Explaining Drake's absence from the Young Money concert at the Jones Beach Theater in Long Island, New York on Saturday (01Aug09), Wayne told the sold out crowd, "He got a bad a** right leg and then he fell and broke (sic) another ligament in his leg. He's going into surgery tomorrow so keep him in your prayers."
Doctors had advised Drake against performing, so he could recover from the torn ACL and he subsequently cancelled his 30-minute solo slot on the tour.
But the rapper was determined to make a brief guest appearance at each show to collaborate with Lil Wayne and perform his hit single Best I Ever Had for the fans.
His new injury forced Drake to skip Saturday's New York show altogether and, as WENN went to press, it was unknown how long he would be out of action.
The Young Money Presents America's Most Wanted Music Festival also features sets by Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Pleasure P and heads to Virginia on Sunday.
