LIGHTS GO OUT ON MACY

Actor WILLIAM H. MACY's performance on Broadway was plunged into darkness on Tuesday (10Feb09) when a technician accidentally hit the lights before the play had finished.
MACy is currently starring in David Mamet's Speed-The-Plow after taking over from Jeremy Piven, who quit the production with mercury poisoning last year (08).
But theatre-goers in New York this week (beg05Feb09) were left baffled when the lights went out during the final scene - leaving MACy and his co-star Raul Esparza struggling to complete the performance.
Esparza told the crowd, "Someone has been doing a little too much of this," imitating someone smoking a marijuana joint.
MACy then added, "Can we do our last four lines? Where were we?"
After finally completing the scene, the cast received a standing ovation, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
Speed-The-Plow will conclude its limited run on 22 February (09).
