'Live Forever' singer Liam Gallagher has apologised to fans after he was forced to cancel Oasis' V Festival performance in Chelmsford last night (23.08.09).

Liam Gallagher has apologised to fans for cancelling Oasis' V Festival performance.

The group were forced to cancel their show at Chelmsford's Hylands Park on Sunday (23.08.09) after the frontman was diagnosed with viral laryngitis and the rocker admits he is bitterly disappointed at scrapping the show.

Liam wrote on his Twitter page: "The voice may of disappeared but I'm still here.1st things first V I'm gutted your gutted,I'm sorry what can I say f**k all at the moment. (sic)"

Snow Patrol stepped in to headline the event and were one of three acts - including Keane and MGMT - to pay tribute to the absent group by covering their hits, a gesture appreciated by the sickly star.

He added: "Secondly, respect to those bands who covered Oasis last night, even though I might of given some of you s**t in the past... LG (sic)."

Oasis had fulfilled their commitment to the Staffordshire leg of V festival the evening before but Liam's brother Noel admitted afterwards he hadn't enjoyed the show.

He wrote on his blog: "Just come off stage at V in Stafford. And I don't mind admitting that I didn't enjoy it one bit. Don't know why. Couldn't get into it. Very strange.

"Don't feel too clever - outrageous stomach ache. Feel like I'm coming down with something. Bugger. Might have to get the doctor out in the morning. Hope it came out of the speakers OK, gutted. Oh well, there's always tomorrow."

A spokesperson for the band said they were hugely disappointed to cancel the concert.

A statement said: "After a year of being on the road this is the first performance to be lost to a band member's illness, so naturally we are all completely gutted."
