LEWIS SUES OVER ERRAND BOY
Comedian JERRY LEWIS is suing two entertainment companies over claims he's owed money for a proposed remake of his movie THE ERRAND BOY. The funnyman is demanding $2.3 million (GBP1.207 million) from Spyglass Entertainment Group and Hollywood Pictures Corp after the latter assigned rights for an updated version of the 1961 film to Spyglass. The company allegedly prepared a screenplay and hired script writers but never completed the project. According to a 1996 agreement between Lewis and Hollywood Pictures, the actor was to star in the film and serve as a consultant and executive producer if the option to remake the movie was ever exercised. The original film - about a bumbling movie company spy - was written and directed by Lewis, who also acted in it.
