LENNOX NOT INTERESTED IN DESIGNER WARES
Singer ANNIE LENNOX has no desire to become a spokesmodel for fashion campaigns, because she refuses to be a designer's "clothes horse".
The former Eurythmics star, 54, became a style icon at the height of the band's fame in the 1980s and early 1990s, but insists she would never consider taking part in the current culture of celebrity branding.
She says, "I never endorse anybody. I don't want to be a clothes horse for a designer... You wear this expensive designer dress on the runway and that's who you are. It's almost like a status symbol.
"That's not who I am. I'm not a model. I'm an artist, and so I don't want to be owned by some label."
Instead, Lennox admits she has her own thrifty way of shopping.
She adds, "Half my stuff is cheap and a bit secondhand, and I just put it together in my own way."
