LENNON'S KILLER REGRETS MURDER

JOHN LENNON's killer MARK CHAPMAN admits he is ashamed of murdering the former BEATLE.
The confession came during his failed parole hearing last week (12Aug08), the transcripts of which were released on Tuesday (19Aug08).
The 53-year-old gunned down the Beatles star outside his New York home in December 1980 and was handed a 20-years-to-life sentence for the shooting.
And in conversation transcripts, Chapman admits to parole officials that he has developed a greater appreciation and understanding of the significance of the life he took, reports NME.com.
He says, "I recognised that that 25-year-old man, I don't think he really appreciated the life that he was taking, that this was a human being.
"I feel now at 53 I have grown into a deeper understanding of what a human life is. I have changed a lot."
