LEE SUPPORTS WEI IN THE WAKE OF CHINESE MEDIA BAN

LATEST: Filmmaker ANG LEE has vowed to support actress TANG WEI following the ban imposed on her by the Chinese media. The 28-year-old star of Lee's movie Lust, Caution is the face of skincare brand Ponds in her home country, but the advertisements were ordered to cease broadcast immediately by China's State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) after it announced it was renewing prohibitions on "lewd and pornographic content". But Lee insists he will "do everything he can" to help the actress. He says, "I am very disappointed that Tang Wei is being hurt by this decision. She gave one of the greatest performances ever in a movie that was properly produced and distributed. "We will do everything we can to support her in this difficult time."
