LED ZEPPELIN PLANNING REUNION TOUR 'WITHOUT ROBERT PLANT'

Robert Plant may have ruled himself out of a full Led Zeppelin reunion but the remaining members of the band still plan to tour and record.

Rumours had been rife of the legendary rock band reforming after their one-off charity concert at London's O2 Arena last December, with more than 20 million people applying for the 20,000 available tickets.

But frontman Plant seemed to recently pour cold water on the reports, describing press speculation of a reunion tour as "frustrating and ridiculous".

However, bassist John Paul Jones has revealed that he, guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin's original drummer John Bonham, were seeking a new singer ahead of a planned tour and album.

"We are trying out a couple of singers," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there."

Speaking at a guitar show in Exeter, Jones ruled out using a replica of the iconic frontman for a return to touring.

"It's got to be right. There's no point in just finding another Robert," he explained.

"You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band.

"There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board."

Plant issued a statement last month saying he did not plan to tour with anyone for at least two years, following the October completion of his US dates with Alison Krauss.
