LE BON: 'HUTCHENCE DIDN'T KILL HIMSELF'
DURAN DURAN frontman SIMON LE BON still harbours doubts about friend MICHAEL HUTCHENCE's suicide - and refuses to believe the Australian rocker took his own life. Hutchence was on tour Down Under with his band INXS in November 1997 when he was found dead in his Sydney hotel room. A belt found at the scene suggested the 37-year-old had hanged himself, and the coroner's report backed up the theory. But the Rio star, who was once housemates with the late singer, is sure there is more to the story than people have been led to believe. He says, "He loved life, women and drugs. "He lived it to the full - there is no way he'd have wanted to end it all."

Simon you are creating publicity for yourself. What the hell would you know
about peoples reaction to anitdepressants/alcohol/recreational drug abuse.
I'm traing as a drug and alcohol counsellor and we used your article as topic
in class today. We did have a good laugh at your diagnonsense though.
That self important vile Bob Geldolf and his lying manipulative ex wife,
certainly did not help.
So shut up he was never your friend he just knew you, and he did not like your
music and neither do I you creep.
Simon, I love you, but I think you are wrong about Michael. He was so
distraught about not seeing his baby girl over the holidays. That, combined
with Prozac, cocaine and alcohol and Sir effing Bob drove him to suicide. Have
you ever been in such a dark place that you really think there is no other
option? I have. All the signs were there, from everything I've read. Seems I
could have a Masters Degree in Michael Hutchence History. Bottom line, he meant
to do it. It kills us all to think about it, but I truly believe he just
couldn't take it anymore. He left a phone message saying just that. Tenth
anniversay of Michael's death is November 22nd--Save a Prayer, Simon.
