LCD SOUNDSYSTEM 'MAY NOT RETURN'

LCD SOUNDSYSEM are currently on long-term hiatus and may not return at all, according to guitarist Al Doyle.

Doyle – who also plays with HOT CHIP – said he believes the band may have run its course, as frontman James Murphy is keen to try other things.

According to Doyle, Murphy would like to take more of a background role, as opposed to fronting the band as a whole.

"I don't think James is going to do anything more under that name. I think he'd like to do something with the same personnel possibly next year," Doyle told BBC 6 Music.

He confirmed that himself, Murphy, drummer Pat Mahoney, bassist and guitarist Tyler Pope and keyboard player Nancy Whang will all be involved in a forthcoming project.

Doyle claimed they were toying with the idea of collaborating with New York disco singers that were prominent in the 1970s.

"It's just an idea that we had, God knows if we'll make it happen," he said.
