LAW LEFT 'SPEECHLESS' BY FRENCH HONOUR
LATEST: British actor JUDE LAW couldn't hide his delight when he picked up one of France's top honours earlier today (01MAR07).
The ALFIE star collected the chevalier of the Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres medal at a ceremony in London, where he was lauded by the French ambassador GERARD ERRERA.
The statesman said, "Your immense success has not been handed to you on a plate. It has been the product of hard work.
"This honour is not given in recognition of what you have done for France. It is given for what you have done as an actor and what you represent in the world of cinema, and in a way maybe more importantly for what you are as a human being."
A stunned Law said, "I am speechless. My mum and dad have lived in France for 15 years so really it is a country I share as my home."
Law's parents, MAGGIE and PETER, split their time between London and Saumur in France, where they run a drama school.
