LAURYN HILL LEAVES FANS FUMING WITH POOR PERFORMANCE
Former FUGEES star LAURYN HILL left fans outraged by a poor four-song set at her recent California gig, prompting disgruntled concert-goers to demand refunds for their $90 (GBP45) tickets.
The reclusive singer played a rare gig last Thursday (27Jun07) at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, but fans were shocked to learn Hill's performance was over almost as soon as it had started and left the venue complaining about the poor showing.
Local newspaper San Jose Mercury, reports, "It wasn't just her voice that was shaky. Hill stumbled about the stage and, at one point, actually fell flat on her back - which brought into question exactly what the singer had been doing backstage during the long delay..."
The article also claims up to 100 fans exited the auditorium "grumbling loudly and demanding refunds".
Hill released her debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but has yet to produce a follow-up to the highly acclaimed LP.

I went to see Lauryn Hill in London, UK last weekend. It wss the most appalling
show I have ever been to. She was clearly under the influence of drugs;
completely stoned to be precise. Disappointed fans left in their droves once
they realised her performance was abysmal and poor.
Her appearence and demeanour were bizarre to say the least; she was dressed in
a raincoat and scarf, throughout the the show and did little to engage with the
audience; she simply shrieked throughout the whole performance. My wallet is
now £45 lighter and I can't justify why! Until she has got her s**t together,
she should quit doing gigs and fleecing her fans of their hard earned cash.
Lauryn Hill is a has been and a faded star; the sooner she accepts that, then
the sooner she can get herself the help she needs. My message to Lauryn - get
yourself into rehab, but don't expect unsuspecting fans to pay for it.
