LAUGH LOVER JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT
'500 Days of Summer' actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt always wanted to star in comedies but took an ''accidental'' route and ended up starring in a series of dramas.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt thinks all the best movies are comedies.
The '500 Days of Summer' actor - who plays lovelorn Tom Hansen in the new movie, a greetings card writer who gets his heart broken - is best known for starring in dramatic films, but insists it was not a conscious decision.
He said: "I never intended to only do dark stuff, serious things. I just wanted to do good stuff. And it's just a lot less common to find good stuff that also manages to be funny.
"There's an absolute prejudice that good movies are dramas and comedies are more dismissible. But I couldn't disagree more. I think a lot of the best movies are comedies and they're harder to make."
Joseph - who starred alongside Heath Ledger in 1999 '10 Things I Hate About You' and has just finished work on new action film 'Inception' - added he thinks comedic actors are more talented that those who stick to dramatic roles.
He said: "Comedy takes a very specific technique, specific skills. Drama is different. Someone who's never acted before can give a great dramatic performance if they just forget the camera is there and be real and feel it. You can't with comedy. It's much more practiced and precision-oriented."
