LATIFAH OVERSHADOWED BY MUM AT OBAMA MEETING

QUEEN LATIFAH has to fight for the spotlight when she takes her mother to high profile events - after nearly missing a chance to meet U.S. President BARACK OBAMA.
The actress/rapper is often accompanied by her mum Rita on red carpets and A-list events - and she finds V.I.P.s are always more interested in meeting the matriarch of the family.
After a recent Washington D.C. meeting with Obama, she says, "We participated in this big event they had at the capital and afterwards they had a nice meet-and-greet where he was able to say hi to everyone. It was so many people (sic) and I finally got to the front of the line... and I was like, 'Mr. President, this is my mother.' And he was like, 'That's your mum? Come here!' and he was so warm. They never pay attention to me once my mum's there."
