LAPD MAY BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OVER THE GAME'S MONEY

The Los Angeles Police Department may be held in contempt of court for allegedly withholding $40,000 (GBP20,000) belonging to rapper THE GAME. Police seized the money following a firearms incident at a basketball game in February 2007 during which The Game - real name Jayceon Taylor - is accused of hitting a player on the opposing team before threatening to shoot him. In November (07), a judge ruled the hip-hop star is entitled to be given back the $40,000 taken by authorities from his Glendale, California home in May (07). And now a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has set a hearing for 22 January (07) to decide whether the LAPD should be held in contempt of court for holding onto the money. The Game has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of possession of a firearm in a school zone, making criminal threats and exhibiting the gun in the presence of a police officer. His trial is set to begin on 4 February (07) and he faces up to five years behind bars if convicted.
