LANCASTER FACED PARALYSIS
Model PENNY LANCASTER was once warned by medical experts that she would never walk again - unless she underwent lengthy surgery. Rocker Rod Stewart's wife was recently axed from British reality show Strictly Come Dancing, but months before entering the dancing competition, doctors performed surgery on a slipped disc in the 36-year-old's back, preventing her from being paralysed for life. She says, "I may have been eliminated but the training and dancing was the best form of rehabilitation and healing. Muscles in my left foot still don't work properly. That's probably why I wasn't good at the jive. "But I wanted to be judged on my performance. I was just grateful to be able to walk, never mind dance."
