LAMBERT & YOUNG HONOURED BY GAY MAGAZINE

Talent show troubadours ADAM LAMBERT and WILL YOUNG have been lauded by a top U.S. magazine for their inspiring influence on gay culture.
This year's (09) American Idol runner-up has been named Breakout Star Of The Year by Out magazine and Brit Young, who won U.K. reality show Pop Idol in 2002, was branded the gay celebrity most likely to win a Grammy Award.
Lambert, who 'came out' as a homosexual shortly after the talent show wrapped in May (09), is delighted with the top honour. He says, "It's part of who I am, but because our nation is the way it is, it's an announcement. If I lose some fans, f**k it. I need to be happy too. If somehow this can open people’s minds or whatever, then great."
Pop star Cyndi Lauper was handed the Ally Of The Year award for her tireless charity work for gay rights groups - and she has vowed to carry on her campaign for equality.
She says, "It's just insane to think in 2009 there's still a group of Americans recognised as 'less than' the rest of us."
Other Out magazine honourees include Cher's daughter Chastity Bono, who began gender reassignment process last year (08), and comedienne Wanda Sykes, who was named Entertainer Of The Year.
