LAGERFELD WAS CENTRE OF KIDNAP PLOT
German designer KARL LAGERFELD was at the centre of a kidnap plot by radical political group the Red Army Faction in the seventies, which ended in another man being abducted and murdered.
Plans were drawn to target the fashion icon in 1977 and use him as a pawn to help release jailed members of the RAF, but the plans were dropped and employers' representative Hanns-Martin Schleyer was taken and killed instead.
Member of the Red Army Faction, convicted terrorist, Peter-Jurgen Boock says Lagerfield, who at the time was artistic director at Chloe, was on a list of "people with a large fortune on whom we collected information with a view to kidnapping them".
