LAGERFELD SUES OVER BOOK
German-born fashion designer KARL LAGERFELD has filed suit against a French author ALICIA DRAKE, after she claimed he embellished his life story in her new book.
Lagerfeld claims Drake's book THE BEAUTIFUL FALL: FASHION, GENIUS AND GLORIOUS EXCESS IN 1970S PARIS breaches his privacy and is seeking 100,000 euros ($132,000/GBP67,000) in damages.
Drake contradicts Lagerfeld's story of growing up in a grand estate in Germany, claiming his upbringing took place in a small mansion in a "grey, flat and colourless" part of the country.
Lagerfeld filed a complaint earlier this year (06), claiming Drake's book was "more based on suppositions and improvised conclusions than on truth".
The book also claims Lagerfeld and his fashion rival YVES SAINT LAURENT shared a boyfriend, despite moving in different social circles.
