LAGERFELD LAMENTS VALENTINO RETIREMENT

Fashion guru KARL LAGERFELD has urged fellow designer VALENTINO to reconsider his decision to retire next year (08). The German designer, 74, spoke out about Valentino's recent announcement (Sep07) after the launch of his new ready-to-wear line. He says, "I am not very pleased because I think it is not good that he's stopping; he is in great shape." Valentino, 75, will retire next year after a glittering 45 year career in the industry. His final Haute Couture show will take place in Paris in January (08). Lagerfeld adds, "He should continue. It's no fun, he will be bored."
