LACHEY'S 'AWKWARD' TEEN CHOICE MOMENTS WITH SIMPSON

NICK LACHEY felt uncomfortable picking up his Best Love Song award at the Teen Choice Awards last night (20AUG06) - because his ex-wife and the tune's inspiration JESSICA SIMPSON was hosting the ceremony. Simpson and her EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH co-star DANE COOK presented the star-studded bash at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, where Lachey picked up two gongs - Love Song for WHAT'S LEFT OF ME and Red Carpet Fashion Icon, Male. Accepting his trophy for the song, which he wrote after his 2005 break-up with Simpson, Lachey said, "I just want to start off by saying, awkward, a little bit." During his acceptance speech, a fan yelled, "Take that, Jessica." Other exes who tried to avoid each other at the ceremony, were ONE TREE HILL co-stars SOPHIA BUSH and CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY, who currently are in the middle of divorce proceedings. Bush presented the Love Song award to Lachey, while her estranged husband also presented a trophy. He brought his teenage fiancee KENZIE DALTON along as his date.
