KYLIE CONFIRMED AS THIRD BRIT AWARDS PRESENTER

Pop singer Kylie Minogue is to host the Brit awards alongside James Corden and Mathew Horne, it has been confirmed.

The Australian star will take to the stage at London's Earl's Court alongside the Gavin and Stacey actors on February 18th, organisers have announced.

And as well as U2 and Pet Shop Boys - whose performances were announced last week - Kings of Leon, Duffy and Girls Aloud have also been added to the lineup.

Ged Doherty, chairman of the Brits committee, said the new additions to the bill signified "a truly special Brits".

"Added to Kylie, Mathew and James hosting, it's going to be a must-see event," he continued.

"With the nominations launch taking place tomorrow night, the countdown to the 2009 Brits is now truly under way."

Fearne Cotton will unveil the nominees for this year's awards at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London, on Tuesday night.

The public can pick their favourite live act, breakthrough act and British single once the shortlists have been announced, with the best British single prize decided through a telephone vote during the live broadcast.

The remaining eight categories are decided by the Brits Academy, comprised of 1,000 music industry professionals and writers.
