KRAKOWSKI HAPPY TO MAKE WAY FOR CRUZ

JANE KRAKOWSKI was devastated to miss out the chance to reprise her role in the movie version of Broadway music NINE - but not as much as her parents. Krakowski starred alongside Antonio Banderas during the show's successful New York run - but director Rob Marshall opted for different leads for the big screen adaptation, due for release in 2009. Krakowski says, "My parents were devastated when they found out I didn't have the part. But then I explained a little-known actress named Penelope Cruz had gotten it and they understood." Cruz' real-life boyfriend Javier Bardem takes on Banderas' role.
