KILMER TAKES STEPS TOWARDS RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR
Actor VAL KILMER is "seriously considering" running for Governor of his homestate of New Mexico next year (10).The current governor, Democrat Bill Richardson, has to stand down in 2010 after serving two terms in office - and he is touting Kilmer as a potential replacement.
The 48-year-old star recently described the idea of him running for political office as "bizarre" - but now confesses he is seriously tempted to follow in the footsteps of action star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Kilmer tells the Associated Press, "I'm looking for ways to be contributive (sic). And if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I'll run."
And the former Batman Forever star is convinced he'd win: "If I run, I'm going to be the next governor."
