KIDD'S CAREER THROWN INTO DOUBT OVER ALLEGED COCAINE SCANDAL
British supermodel JODIE KIDD's career has been thrown into doubt following claims she procured cocaine for undercover journalists, according to reports.
The 28-year-old, who counts British retail giant Marks + Spencer (M+S) as one of her contracts, could lose up to $1 million (GBP500,000) in earnings after the companies she represents condemned the allegations of illegal drug use.
Kidd met undercover reporters from British newspaper the News Of The World, who posed as investors interested in a polo club she is trying to set up.
The journalists claim they requested drugs during the meeting, with Kidd reportedly obtaining three grammes of cocaine - worth $300 (GBP150) - for them from a known local drug dealer.
She is alleged to have told them, "I'd do it. It's not the best but it's what we can do at half past 12 at night."
Kidd holds modelling contracts with LG Electronics, the Hi-Tech sportswear brand, and M+S among others - but British newspaper the Daily Mail claims Kidd could soon lose her six-figure deals.
Stuart Rose, M+S Chief Executive, tells the tabloid: "I don't know what the facts are - but I condemn all drug use."
A spokesperson for Hi Tech says, "It goes without question that our company does not condone drugs," with an LG representative adding the allegations of drug-taking "are not a thing you would want in a brand ambassador."
