KID ROCK: 'I SHOULD BE HELPING CHARITIES, NOT SHOVELLING SNOW'
KID ROCK has blasted the judge who sentenced him to community service for his 2007 Waffle House fight in Georgia - because he's shovelling snow rather than raising charity cash.
The rocker tried to convince the judge that he should serve his 80 hours of service performing for U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, but that was turned down.
The hitmaker challenged the judge over his decision and urged fans to complain to the lawman, calling for him to visit Iraq and then decide that visiting a warzone and putting himself in harm's way wasn't community service.
Rock then asked that charity work he had done for autism, Aids and war veteran organisations be taken into account - and that propsal was rejected too, so now the singer is begrudgingly clearing snow in his native Michigan, insisting his energy could be put to much better use.
He says, "There's so many people in Michigan right now that are really hurting, especially charities, who are looking for money to do what they do.
"The place I'm working with now does a lot of work with children with terminal illnesses, so they've got me here stuffing envelopes and moving boxes and shovelling snow - that's what the judge wants me to do... They're sitting here, like, 'Man, we wish you could raise us some money.'
"I turned in over 120 hours, where I raised over... a million dollars (and) they disregarded all of that... I understand what he's getting at - he wants you to go out and slap and spend your time and sit there, but it doesn't make any sense... Whatever, I'm here schlepping 15 hours a day."
Kid Rock fears his community service stint will cost him an appearance at the Grammys this weekend (08Feb09): "I'm trying to juggle a few things around."

the judge is whacked to bad you can't take the snow your shoveling and dump it
in his driveway you've gone above and beyond and the psycho idiot can't see it
I totally agree with you Kid Rock. If you spent all your spare time doing
something for others it should considered part of the community service. I
think that judge is totally whacked out of his mind or something. He needs to
get a clue that when you do charity work it doesn't benefit you as much as it
does the charities your helping. Keep up the great work and I hope to see you
in my neck of the woods sometime soon. Keep on rockin' kid.
Love Jennifer!
