KID ROCK HONOURS ERTEGUN AT FUNERAL
KID ROCK was among the mourners who joined music industry heads and Turkish dignitaries at the funeral of Atlantic Records co-founder AHMET ERTEGUN in Istanbul, Turkey this morning (18DEC06).
Ertegun, who launched the careers of RAY CHARLES and ARETHA FRANKLIN - among countless other acts, died last week (14DEC06), at the age of 83.
The Turkish-born impresario was buried at an ancestral family site near the Bosphorus.
Turkey's Foreign Minister ABDULLAH GUL represented the country's government at the sombre affair. Other mourners included Turkish pop star TARKAN and Time Warner CEO LYOR COHEN.
At the ceremony Kid Rock said, "I have met many people, been to many places and seen many things, but he was definitely the best. He could not sing but he was music personified."
