KERRY KATONA IN HORRIFIC SLEDGEHAMMER BURGLARY

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has had her house raided by armed burglars, police have revealed.

The 26-year-old was held captive in her Wilmslow home alongside her young baby Heidi by three balaclava-wearing men wielding a sledgehammer, a crowbar and a large knife.

In a statement Cheshire police said that the burglars confronted Katona and her husband Mark Croft, 36, shortly before midnight this morning.

No-one was injured during the burglary, a spokesman added, although he revealed that the family was left very shaken.

The force representative went on to say that during the "extremely alarming" incident, one of the armed men remained with the OK! magazine columnist and five-month-old Heidi while the other two burglars forced her husband around the house as he identified property to be stolen.

After making off with more than £100,000-worth of goods, the family were then sealed in a downstairs room, before they escaped at about 00:30 BST and alerted police.

Among the property that burglars made off with were two laptop computers, two televisions – including a 42in plasma screen – a Microsoft Xbox and Sony PlayStation3, assorted jewellery, rings and watches, as well as a blue BMW sports car; registration WF0 6KMM.

"Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may have any information regarding the identity of the offenders, or the whereabouts of the property stolen," a police statement said.
