KELLY CLARKSON'S INSTINCTIVE ALBUM
Kelly Clarkson says she listens to "myself and my gut" when making musical decisions.
Kelly Clarkson refuses to take advice on her music.
The 'I Do Not Hook Up' singer is proud of latest effort 'All I Ever Wanted', particularly because she made all of the decisions about the sound of the record.
She told MTV News: "I'm pretty proud of it. We worked really hard on it - really hard on it. So it's cool when it pays off. I don't ever want to do something I'm not proud of in 10 or 20 years. I want to make music I want to sing and I'm gonna be proud of.
"I don't listen to anyone on any records. I listen to myself and my gut."
The singer also said she sticks to a "basic formula" when compiling possible album tracks - but is not afraid to try something new.
She added: "It is about continuing with the formula, but that doesn't mean that you can't try something different. I've produced a song on the album. So we do definitely do different things on the albums, but the basic formula is variety. I never want to do the same song twice. I hate when people do that."
