KAPUR: 'ELIZABETH IS NOT ANTI-CATHOLIC'

LATEST: Director SHEKHAR KAPUR has hit out at claims his new movie ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE is anti-Catholic, insisting it is "anti extreme forms of religion." The Indian filmmaker reacted to allegations by Vatican-backed historian Professor Franco Cardini that his period movie - starring Cate Blanchett as the 16th Century British monarch - is a "distorted anti-papal travesty" which could prove divisive among Christians. Kapur says, "It's actually very, very deeply not anti-Catholic. It is anti extreme forms of religion." Meanwhile, Kapur has again hinted he would make a third feature on the Virgin Queen, insisting there is enough material to produce a third and final installment on the historical franchise. He adds, "There's an assumption there's a trilogy. I think I started that."
