KAISER CHIEFS CLIMB TO NUMBER ONE

Kaiser Chiefs' single Ruby has finally climbed to the top spot in the UK singles charts.

The band's lead single from their Yours Truly, Angry Mob album had been thwarted by Mika's Grace Kelly in its first two weeks of release but it overcame all opposition in the last seven days to reach the chart's summit.

It was a bad week for Mika who slipped to number two in both the singles and album chart. His Life In Cartoon Motion record was trumped by Amy Winehouse's Back To Black.

Fray's How To Save A Life was the highest new entry on the singles chart at number five, while the identically-titled single did one better at number four.

Snow Patrol was unmoved at number three with Eyes Open on the album chart. This week's top ten was notable for four climbers, including The Killers' Sam's Town at six, Lily Allen's Alright Still at seven and Nelly Furtado's Loose at number nine.

On the singles chart Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Catch You jumped up the rankings, reaching number eight from last week's number 24.

Keelis' Lil Star rose 12 places from last week's number 15 to number three in the singles stakes.
