JUDD FORCED TO CONFRONT CLEANING COMPULSION
ASHLEY JUDD was shocked to learn that her need to compulsively clean things was part of her effort to maintain control in her chaotic environment. The DE-LOVELY star recently completed a 47-day stint at a Texas rehabilitation facility where she faced her destructive behaviour. The star, whose family frequently moved when she was growing up, claims she became "hyper-vigilant" to compensate for the disarray around her. She explains, "I do this thing on airplanes and in hotels that I never thought was a problem, where I wipe down all plastic surfaces around me. "The first time I looked at that in treatment and thought I might have to refrain from wiping, I cried for 25 minutes - sobbed from my toenails. "I said, 'How can you tell me that's an addiction?! I'm not hurting anybody!' But it's not about germs, it's about control. "At (the treatment facility), my behaviours were treated like addictions. "And those behaviours were killing me spiritually, the same as someone who is sitting on a corner with a bottle in a brown paper bag."
