JOY DIVISION FILM TAKES CONTROL OF AWARD NODS

A movie charting the life of rock band JOY DIVISION is leading the way with ten nominations at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs). Control stars newcomer Sam Riley and Samantha Morton and looks at the life of frontman and cult figure Ian Curtis, who committed suicide in 1980. Other film frontrunners are When Did You Last See Your Father?, Eastern Promises, Notes On A Scandal, Hallam Foe and the forthcoming Brick Lane. The winners will be announced at a star-studded ceremony in London next month (28Nov07).
