JONZE BLASTS 'HEIR' CLAIMS
Film maker SPIKE JONZE has hit out at the longtime rumour he's the secret heir to a multi- billion dollar shopping empire.
Since he found fame in the late 90s it has been claimed Jonze changed his name from Adam Spiegel, to escape the connection with the Spiegel catalogue company his ancestors founded.
It was even reported Jonze was the direct heir to the company, worth an estimated $3 billion.
The stories baffled the Adaptation director, because, at best, they are grossly exaggerated - but he "gave up" trying to put people right a long time ago.
Explaining his family severed ties with the company many generations ago, the 39 year old tells GQ magazine, "My great-great-grandfather (was involved in the company). But they sold it. So it's by name only."
