JONES TOOK ON THEATRE MUSICAL FOR THE MONEY
Rapper JIM JONES only agreed to turn his life story into a New York theatre show for the money.
The Dipset group member made his stage debut in a one-off performance of Hip-Hop Monologues: Inside the Life and Mind of Jim Jones last November (08), which opened to rave reviews.
He reprised his role for a week-long run of the play in March (09) to coincide with the release of his latest album, Pray IV Reign.
But Jones confesses his motivation to take part in the play was the big pay cheque he received for his work - and had nothing to do with the artistry.
He says, "I'm not one of the people who say I do things for the craft of it."
However, Jones hopes his success will inspire others to follow him into the theatre world, adding, "I should hope I've created a new lane for rappers who are woody (brave) enough to complete a task like this to go into a whole other form of revenue."
